The monthly magazine Avīzes Nosakums is an avant-garde literary magazine publishing the works of Latvian writers and other artists, where every month it hosts a different guest editor and designer, to create an issue of the magazine on a topic of their choice.

We wanted to create a space where queer voices could speak freely—without justification, theoretical framing and the pressure to explain themselves to an external audience. At a time when even among younger generations right-wing ideologies are gaining traction, queer visibility and representation remain urgent. This issue is not just a collection of texts. It is a sensory and deeply personal insight into queerness in its many forms from people whose existence is not a political discussion, but a lived reality.

The works in this issue reflect the fluidity, resistance, and radical tenderness that define queer experience, embracing uncertainty and transformation as essential aspects of selfhood. Through poetry, prose, and images, our contributors assert that queerness has always been part of Latvian literature and culture. This issue reaffirms the already existing proof of it.
